We always love hearing the stories of our couples from the location they choose to take their engagement photos in. Alexandra and Christopher chose Hoboken as their engagement session location because they met there, dated there, and lived there together. The streets and restaurants tell their story over the years and they wanted to capture it as they shared their memories with us walking down cobblestone streets. They even discovered some new alleyways and overlook while with us!
We started at Maxwell Place Park and walked south along the Hudson River. While we’ve photographed many sessions in Hoboken, there were still new discoveries we made this time around. As photographers, we always love new visuals to help tell a new story! The Hoboken Cove Boathouse was a really cute building that could pass as a little quaint house. It was also sitting right next to a tiny little beach with sand that we’ve never seen before. It really helped isolate the couple from the busy streets of Hoboken for just a few quiet moments.
We then walked through the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology. While Alex and Chris have walked through campus a few times, they never actually saw the Castle Point Lookout. This was their first time and we were delighted to see their reaction. After the campus we cut through a cobblestone alleyway and had to get some shots of puddle reflections. We love the way they turned out!
One of our favorite spots is the wooden platforms of Pier C Park. When the sun is low, and the street lamps are on, the warm wooden decks contrast beautifully with the sunset city skyline. A black solid dress always looks amazing against the warm colors.
Last but definitely not least is sunset at the Hoboken Path Station in front of the Lackawanna tower. The taxi headlights while the couple strolls and dances along the glittery cobblestones is such a romantic theme we will never get sick of. Every couple deserves that cinematic ending!
